Everyone is all about basics and natural tones nowadays, and honestly, I am guilty of that as well. Because let’s be honest, with good basics you’ll have endless options. Black, white, grey, nude and army green tones repeat themselves many times in my wardrobe. But, a good statement piece should not be underestimated. This can be anything, from the most outstanding shoes to a great necklace, or, in this case, a tropical dress. A statement piece is always special and can make or break your outfit. Depending on what kind of piece you choose, you can dress it up or down as much as you like. Here are three basic tips on how to style any statement piece from your wardrobe.
- The fit of a certain item is always important, but because a statement piece draws so much attention, it’s even more of interest. Besides the fact that the piece fits right, you should also feel comfortable in it and make sure the coloursyou’re your skin tone perfectly, hair colour and/or eye colour.
- Keep it simple. You want to draw all the attention to this beautiful garment you chose, so make sure the rest of your outfit is there to balance out the greatness of your statement. A great way to keep that balance is colour combining. Make sure the colours of your accessories will complement the colour(s) of the main item. For example, I used white simple shoes to accentuate the bright parts of the dress. Going for the same green colour could have made the outfit too plane and boring. The gold watch perfectly matches the yellow pieces in the dress and my hair colour together. All items are simple so all the attention is drawn to the dress.
- Most important is definitely to wear your outfit with confidence. You should be proud on what you wear because you picked it and you love it. So head up gorgeous, and wear that statement piece!
These basic tips can be applied to any look with any statement piece, so get creative and start combining different styles. I hope these tips helped you out and made you a little more confident on how to style some great garments. Check out my social media platforms for more inspiration!
